Pearson Custom Learning Press Release

Courses Boil Down to Securit

On July 19, 2006, CW productions hosted a seminar for the Homeland Security Institute of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, CO.  Titled “Disaster and Terror in Colorado: The National Response Plan”, the seminar offered a bottom-up look at the federal blueprint for responding to catastrophe.  Employing a combination of lecture, video, and exercises, CW Productions presented a general overview of the NRP followed by a detailed examination of the plan’s response to both natural and manmade catastrophes by analyzing specific applications to a terrorist radiological attack, pandemic influenza, and urban wild-land fire in Colorado Springs.  The program culminated in a large-scale group exercise where 100 participants engaged in a simulated National Incident Management System and competed to save lives and protect property.

Selected Comments

  • Very well done.  I attended a couple of other training sessions at NORTHCOM and I found this to be much more valuable and current.  I have also read all the new NRP/Katrina documents, and this put everything into perspective very well.
  • Very polished and professional
  • This was a good seminar.  Please continue.  The more information and training we can get, the better our community will be prepared.
  • Superb seminar – well worth my company’s time and money – and my time too!
  • The instructor was very knowledgeable.  Nice commonsense approach.  Great job.
  • Well organized.  Outstanding speaker, handouts, and resources.  A very valuable seminar in today’s climate of terrorism, pandemic flu, etc.
  • Learned a lot about the NRP and how Federal support is provided.  Enjoyed the exercise a lot – good learning experience
  • The exercise was energizing.  I enjoyed the hands-on approach.
  • The final practical exercise was the best table-top exercise I’ve seen.
  • Good balance of visual, lecture, etc.
